#5074 – A Sacred Place

Good morning people who make your home into an altar for the Lord.

1 Samuel 7:16-17 NIV From year to year he went on a circuit from Bethel to Gilgal to Mizpah, judging Israel in all those places. But he always went back to Ramah, where his home was, and there he also held court for Israel. And he built an altar there to the Lord.

Samuel had a regular circuit that he went on every year, and he also had a home that he returned to. It was at the place of his home where he built an altar to the Lord; this was his special meeting place with God.

For you, your circuit is most likely your job or school or university that you regularly go out to. While you are there, God is present and God wants to meet with you and lead you. I want you to hear that clearly.

But what I feel to encourage you with today is this: Make your home a special place of meeting for you and God.

The other places where you regularly go to have other influencing factors and voices: Many things are outside of your control, and in addition to that, you have responsibilities that require your undivided attention.

But when you return to your home, you have more control on the influences, the environment and the use of God’s gift of time. And this is why I believe God is inviting us all to make our homes a special sacred place of divine encounter.

May Father speak to you what is on His heart for you right now.
