#4923 – Gaze on God

Good morning people who are renewed by fixing your eyes on the Lord.

Colossians 3:9-10 NIV Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

We are saved and we are being sanctified. We have our Father’s DNA, and now we are learning to become more like Him.

Yet one of my biggest challenges in life has been an unhealthy and imbalanced focus on trying to transform myself; trying to become more like Jesus.

However, the best way for this to happen – the way that God intends for this to happen – is for us to grow in the knowledge of God Himself.

Paul writes about being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

The more accurately I see God as He is, and the more I meditate on this, the more I am transformed into His image.

2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

The more we contemplate the Lord, the more we are transformed into His image! And it’s not just a little bit – it’s with ever-increasing glory!

And the best part is that it comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit! In other words, I gaze upon the Lord, and His Spirit transforms me. This is how it is meant to work.
