#4851 – Bearing Fruit

Good morning people who abide in Christ and bear fruit that will last.

Colossians 1:10-12 NIV So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

As we mentioned yesterday, our desire is to live a life worthy of the Lord and to please him in every way.

So, what are the ways that Paul specifically mentions we do this?

Firstly, bearing fruit in every good work.

The Bible repeatedly tells us that bearing fruit is not the product of striving, but of abiding. It is true that we reproduce what we are connected to. As believers, we reproduce who we are connected to.

Bearing fruit is also the result of obedience to what God has told us to do. We cannot bear fruit that will last if we are doing something different than what God has instructed us to do.

Ignorance is not a reasonable excuse for disobedience. We need to take time to draw aside, ask God and then listen to His instructions. Yes, it might take some time for God to speak, but I am fully convinced that He will make Himself clear to those who genuinely desire to know and do God’s will.

Are you bearing fruit in every good work?
