#4812 – Protector & Guide

Good morning people who walk with your all-sufficient God.

Psalms 23:4 NIV Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

God’s rod and God’s staff – these are two different things and they have two distinct purposes.

The amplified bible brings some clarity to this:

Psalms 23:4 AMP Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me.

When the enemy comes against God’s people, there is power in Jesus’ name and in His blood! We are victorious in Christ, and even through the darkest of valleys, the enemy is powerless to the light of God’s love in the life of a submitted follower of Jesus Christ.

When we lose our way or don’t know what is around the next corner, the Holy Spirit illuminates our path and reveals the truth that we need to hear. I love the following truth that David writes:

Psalms 139:12 NIV Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

Beautiful!

And this is why we do not need to fear any evil. God is greater and He is always with us.
