#4741 – Developing Character

Good morning people who become more like Christ through submission

Submission to God is easy for many of us to accept. But submission to human authority, well that’s a different story. So, what does the Bible say about this:

1 Peter 2:13-14,18 NIV Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right…Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.

Wow, it’s pretty clear! And this is not even talking about godly authority!

The truth is this: Unless an authority tells us to directly do something against God’s law, we are to submit. It’s truly that simple.

And here’s the beauty of what is happening when we do: We honour God and our Christlike character is developed.

I am convinced that God is more interested in this than we realise, and those who oppose our will are often His chosen vessel of refinement in our lives.
