Good morning people who are in love with the God of self-control  

Galatians 5:22-23 NIV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

God is self-controlled. He never ‘flies off the handle’, nor does He ‘act out of character’ because He is having a bad day.

The word self-controlled means strong in a thing.

God is strong in Himself. Remember, He is all-powerful.

But we are not. Our strength doesn’t come from ourselves, but it is found in God.

Ephesians 6:10 NIV Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

And this is why it is the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. When we are connected to God, He produces His life, His character and His fruit in us. We are branches, not the vine.

So, although it is self-control, it doesn’t originate from ourselves; it originates in God. The self part is us choosing to abide in Him, us choosing to be filled with Him and us choosing to follow His lead in our lives. We must choose this.
