#4526 – Good News

Good morning people who testify about the goodness of God

Mark 5:18-20 NIV As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. Jesus did not let him, but said, Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you. So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.

This is one of the most simple and clear scriptures on how to share the Good News about Jesus.

Go now me to your own people. It can be easier to preach to strangers than it is to to be a witness to those who already know you. But it’s these people that need to hear and see of what God has done. The biggest evidence to them is our changed life.

Tell them how much the Lord has done for you. The focus is on the Lord, not on yourself. The most important part of the Gospel is that it is about God.

Tell them how He had mercy on you. Again, with the focus on God, talk about what He has given to you. People know that they have done wrong, and many feel hopeless in a never-ending cycle of sin and shame. Hearing of mercy changes people’s lives.

I think this is a better way, a less complicated way, a more God-focused way. May we all live our lives in alignment with this instruction from Jesus.
