#4471 – Godly Words

Good morning people who honour God and others by how we speak

Matthew 10:27 NIV What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.

This was said by Jesus to His disciples when He sent them out on mission.

They were instructed to do many things in certain ways, but in this statement, Jesus makes it clear that what they say should originate from Him.

I believe this is a much needed shift for many Christians today, especially on social media. I see it in two parts.

Firstly, what comes out of our mouth must originate from God. It couldn’t be much clearer. We need to be people of intimacy with God, who hear His whisper and know His Word (not our version of His Word), and speak from this place of revelation and truth.

Secondly, when we speak in alignment with revelation and truth, we do so boldly, yet wisely. Not everyone will like the truth, but we can be as wise as possible. But in our wisdom, we must not compromise and then explain it away as ‘grace and love’.

My words matter, and so do yours. If it is not from God, it’s not worth saying.
