#4432 – The Same Side

Good morning people who celebrate others in the Body of Christ

Mark 9:38-41 NIV ““Teacher,” said John, we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.”

I have seen videos, posts, articles and heard comments of Christians speaking against Christian leaders, and my heart is grieved when I hear it. Some have taken it on themselves to be the spiritual moral police and to give their time to exposing “false teachers”. This is not a job description I see in the Bible!

In fact, I believe the greater sin at work here is a spirit of divisiveness that the Bible speaks about, and it tells us to have nothing to do with people whose pursuit is to this end.

Years ago, God told me “Different is different, not wrong.” We need to hear this often and respond accordingly. Because I wouldn’t do something, doesn’t make it wrong. I’m not talking about things that are clearly against scripture, rather I am talking about different focus and expression based on what God has told me to do. Who am I to say that God hasn’t told someone else to do exactly what they are doing?

It’s time to celebrate that which we have criticised. It’s time to believe the truth that Jesus spoke: “If they are not against us, they are for us.”
