#4429 – Avoiding Regret

Good morning people who say NO to the flesh and YES to the Spirit

It’s a lot easier to overcome temptation than it is to overcome regret.

This is a word from God for someone today. A change of perspective will result in a greater freedom of choice.

2 Timothy 2:22 NIV Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

I am not saying it is easy to say NO to temptation. As I’ve said before, temptation wouldn’t be temptation if it wasn’t tempting. It can be strong and it can be intense.

But we must shift to a position of truth, and that is, it is always possible to flee evil desires and pursue godliness. I think it’s important to see that these are two sides of the same coin. Don’t just say NO to the flesh; say YES to the Spirit!

Freedom is often connected to our ability to redirect our mind. Part of this is saying YES to God, and part of this is thinking about not having the pain of regret which often remains far beyond the moment of temptation and sin. Oh, I have found the pain of regret much greater than the challenge of temptation.

There is an invitation from God today to be empowered in your decisions. Choose life, not death. Choose peace, not regret. Choose the Spirit, not the flesh. Choose long term, not short term.
