Good morning people who don’t box God into incomplete human logic
God is not limited in Who He is and how He exists by our level of understanding or the words that we use to try and explain Him. We do the best we can with the words we use, but our words are so limited.
We have tried to come up with human equations to explain eternal time, but eternal time does not exist.
Scriptures like the following are used, but I want you to notice the highlighted word:
Psalms 90:4 NIV A thousand years in Your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.
2 Peter 3:8 NIV But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
‘A day is like a thousand years’ is similar to saying ‘He runs like the wind’ or ‘the Holy Spirit descended like a dove’. A fast runner is not wind, and nor is the Holy Spirit a dove!
A natural day does not equal a thousand eternal years or vice versa. This equation does not exist because time in eternity does not exist.
Why am I saying all of this?
Because I believe God is getting our attention onto the truth that we cannot equate the natural with the spiritual or the temporal with the eternal. We can not reduce God and what is possible to our limited language or understanding.
