#4158 – Distinguishing Mark

Good morning people who reflect God clearly

Here’s another amazing passage from the Bible.

Exodus 33:14-16 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Then Moses said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that You are pleased with me and with Your people unless You go with us? What else will distinguish me and Your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Incredible! “What else will distinguish me and Your people unless You go with us?”

Moses had total reliance upon God’s Presence. Moses did not want to take another step unless God was with them. And I believe it is incredible insight that the evidence of God’s Presence leading them was the distinguishing mark of God’s people.

As it was with Moses, so it is with us.

I don’t want to live outside of God’s Presence. I don’t want to move forward in life without an acute awareness of and dependence upon God’s Presence being with me every moment of every day.

But I also echo Moses’ desire. I don’t just want God’s Presence with me; I want God’s Presence to lead me in the way I should go. This should be part of the evidence that God’s Presence is with us; obedience to His leading and guiding.

This is what I need the Holy Spirit’s help for. Sometimes my will wins out over God’s desire for me. Maybe you feel the same way at times. I simply pray for us all today that we would not move without reliance upon God’s Presence but that we would move as He leads. May God’s Presence with us and seen through us be our distinguishing mark in this very needy world.
