#4145 – Everything Lord

Good morning people who hear and obey

Exodus 24:4,7 When Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and laws, they responded with one voice, “Everything the Lord has said we will do.”…Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.”

Is this our creed for life?

It is much easier to promise full obedience than to do it. It’s easy to obey the things of God that we like; the things that we are comfortable with and we want to do. But then there are the many times we are instructed to do things that are difficult – you know, things like forgiving people who hurt us, loving others selflessly even when it costs us dearly, controlling our tongue and thinking about good things when fear tries to attack our minds…I’m sure you’ve got plenty of things you can add to this list.

In order for us to fulfil this promise, we need to remember a couple of things.

We should remember that we need the Holy Spirit’s help to live right. The Holy Spirit reveals God to us and it’s out of this revelation that we can live life God’s way. The Holy Spirit brings back to our remembrance the Word of God that we have put into us to help us in times of temptation. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to say “No”. We need the Holy Spirit.

We should also remember to keep this commitment to do everything the Lord has said before us every day. The children of Israel meant it at the time but quickly forgot when challenges came. Challenges will come our way also.

Will you live life well by doing everything the Lord has said? I pray we all will.
