#4126 – Quit Grumbling

Good morning people God continues to work on in every season of life

If you are like me, you are on a journey of becoming more like Jesus. I’m not there yet, but I’m heading in the right direction. One of the ways that we move forward is by understanding the human heart and being aware of some pitfalls that seem to easily ensnare us. I pray the Holy Spirit uses these words to inspire us to walk worthy.

Exodus 16:2-3 In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

The whole community grumbled…and so we continue to this day. I think looking at things negatively and complaining is a symptom of the human heart that needs to be submitted to the Lordship of Christ.

Here are some reasons they grumbled and maybe why sometimes we still do today:

…they remembered only the “good” parts and none of the pain and suffering.

…they took their eyes off God and the supernatural deliverance and placed them on man and the natural.

…they focused on what they “wanted” and not on their greatest need.

Tomorrow I want to look at one other thing they did as a result and show us how vulnerable we are to doing this today.

I pray that we will take the time to do the opposite of what the children of Israel did in this situation…remember the pain that God has rescued you from, keep your eyes on God and the supernatural, and focus on your needs, not your wants.
