#369 – At Your Command

Good morning people who hear and obey

1 Kings 18:36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.

Elijah did amazing things (I encourage you to read the above story in full in 1 Kings 18:1-46). Many men and women of God do great and mighty exploits for God. We can read many of the stories in the Bible as well as the many testimonies of God’s power at work today.

Have you ever wondered how people step out and do these exploits? I believe we find the key in this verse; ‘I have done all these things at your command’.

Living life ‘at God’s command’ requires a real intimacy and listening ear. You have heard this many times if you have been subscribed to BIY for awhile and you will hear it many more times. This truth never changes and it is constantly found throughout the precious Word of God. There is no alternative. There is no short-cut yet all too often we can neglect this essential component of our relationship with God. We must spend time with Him to hear from Him in order to do what He commands and as a result bring Him pleasure.

Intimacy with God is essential for every Believer. We develop character through intimacy. We deepen relationships through intimacy. We receive strategies and direction through intimacy. We are empowered through intimacy.

When was the last time God spoke to you? Did you do everything He said?
