Good morning people who ask God to help them honour other people

1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV It (LOVE) does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

The second, third and fourth statements of this verse are amplifications of the first statement; it’s all about honour, because LOVE honours.

If our focus is on the best for others, we will not be self-seeking, and part of the evidence of this is, we will not be easily angered.

Many times, I have uttered the words, “I just can’t help it!” when I have too easily become angry. I call myself out on that today – it’s not true! I can help it! And so can you.

Trying to stop wrong behaviour is nowhere near as effective as shifting our focus from ourselves to others; from ‘what we want’ to ‘what is truly best for the other person’.

There is far too much self-centred pride and wilfulness in the world today! And it doesn’t help anyone – not even the one giving it!

God’s way is humility. God’s way is selflessness. God’s way is honouring others. God’s way is always best.

May Father help us all to honour others as He has honoured us.
