Good morning people who serve God as a son or a daughter

One of my most often quoted scriptures is the following:

John 15:15 NIV I (Jesus) no longer call servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I have learned from My Father I have made known to you.

But as I meditate on Revelations, I see the following:

Revelation 1:1-2 NIV The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John, who testifies to everything He saw – that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

“So, are we a servant to Jesus or a friend to Jesus?”

I believe we are both, but the starting point has shifted.

No longer do we serve from a place of disconnected relationship or distant relationship, but from a place of intimacy; from a place of friendship with God.

No longer do we serve to be accepted, but we serve because we are accepted by our perfect heavenly Father.

As a beloved son or daughter, we serve because we love. Remember, this Book of Revelation was written by the apostle John, and he was referred to as ‘the one that Jesus loved the most’.

Servants don’t always love, but lovers always serve.

“Do you serve God in everything you do – not to be loved, but because you are so deeply loved?”
