Good morning people whose God is Love

In a world where many things scream for our attention and focus, we must regularly set our compass to who God is and remind ourselves of the security that brings.

1 John 4:7-8 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

God is Love. Sure He demonstrates love but He IS Love. To our finite minds this is difficult to comprehend because to us love is a feeling and a motivation. As humans we can have moments of being loving but we all have moments where we are unloving. Sometimes we can fluctuate between the two rather quickly. But not so with God.

Love is inherent to God’s nature and character; it is who He is. When God leads, it’s because He loves. When God corrects, it’s because He loves. When God speaks, it’s because He loves. When God is silent, it’s because He loves. God cannot and does not do anything that does not flow from His love. Because we do not understand, does not mean God is not Love. God is always Love.

We love imperfectly. God loves perfectly. We find it very difficult to love those who hurt us. God loves those who hurt Him as much as those who live for Him. We love when people move towards us. God makes the first move because He is Love. God is Love and our love is an expression of God’s Love.

“Father I pray that you reveal your heart of love to us today in a greater way. May we fall in love with Love. May we know Love and may it transform our lives. Lord help us to live in your love and help us to freely and liberally give your love away.”
