#33 – Not Condemned

Good morning favoured of God

Jesus had many encounters with sinful people yet how they felt as a result of that encounter is vastly different to how many people feel after an encounter with many Christians.

There’s an amazing story in John 4 about the Samaritan woman at the well. I encourage you to read the whole thing but let me highlight something briefly.

Many Christians point out sin in people’s lives and focus on the change needed. Many times condemnation is the consequence and people are driven away from this perceived judgemental Jesus, or they don’t even see Him due to the focus on the sin.

John 4:29 She said, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”

When people encountered Jesus, sin was revealed, BUT THE INDIVIDUAL WAS ATTRACTED TO THIS NON JUDEGEMENTAL CHRIST. The Samaritan woman was told what she had done and as a result brought others to Him! I don’t know how this all works as many times there seems to be a fine line between condemnation and condoning, but Jesus showed us it is possible.

Today, let’s all live lives that leave people wanting to know more about Jesus; maybe a little less condemnation and some more Christ-reflection is needed.
