Good morning people who are privileged and blessed to spend time with God
Matthew 6:5-6 MSG And when you come before God, don’t turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense His grace.
Father wants us to connect with Him. The Lord Jesus Christ loves to spend time with us. The Holy Spirit loves the pleasure of our company.
To God, prayer is not a religious act, or a duty for us to do. To God, prayer is time that He loves to spend with us, both in listening and speaking.
I believe ‘the purity of prayer’ is being recaptured and reawakened in God’s people. It’s not about ‘us getting what we want’ – it’s about ‘God giving what He wants’. It’s a ‘God’ focus – not an ‘us’ focus.
And this is where our scripture today lands. When we come ‘simply and honestly’ and with no pretension, our focus will shift from ourselves to God; from our will to His will and from our lack to His abundance.
May we all discover God on deeper levels as we lean into the beauty and wonder and awe of prayer – oh what a privilege it is!
