Good morning people of community
God never called us to work alone; God called us to community. There are many reasons for this but one of them is there is safety in numbers. My Dad has always says “Isolation breeds error” and he’s absolutely right. This applies to every level of the community but I want to address the area of leadership and decision making for a minute.
Some leaders get themselves into trouble, and at times dishonour not only themselves but also the Body of Christ, by their independence and their making wide reaching decisions by themselves. This is not what the Bible teaches.
Acts 16:4-5 As they (Paul, Silas and Timothy) travelled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey. So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.
Here’s what I notice in these verses, keeping in mind we are talking about respected leaders in the Church (Paul, Silas and Timothy). They did not teach and preach simply what they wanted. They passed on decisions made by the apostles and elders. This was their safety and look at the result: the churches were strengthened and they grew! This is what we want but we must do it God’s ways.
I want to strongly encourage every leader in the Body of Christ to live by this principle. Please do not act in independence. We need every leader with authority to also be under authority.
