#2156 – Global Church

Good morning people who are part of the Body of Christ

James 1:1 (NIV) James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.

I love the fact that the Church is made up of millions of congregations scattered all around the world. These congregations are made up of many people, from many nations, backgrounds and cultures.

I think it is really important for us to remember that we are part of a much larger family than our own local church. If someone is a born again Christian, they are your brother or sister in Christ. This makes us part of the largest family in the world; the family of God.

Members of a family have individual traits, but they also have some family traits. I believe that while we should celebrate the different flavours of Christians and churches around the world, there needs to be some family traits that shine through. Sure, we can have our own style, but our own style must never become more prominent than us reflecting the image and character of God. And so it is with natural culture. I love different cultures, but natural culture must always be subject to kingdom culture.

Today I celebrate that you are my brother – that you are my sister. And together I encourage us all to live our lives for the cause of Christ, walking in kingdom culture in our everyday lives.
