#2073 – Biblical Convictions

Good morning people who know what God says in His Word

“What has shaped your current beliefs? What has shaped the doctrine that you hold to?”

There are some current doctrines that Christians hold that are not what God has said in His Word. The reality is, personal experiences, social issues and acceptance, and faulty teaching has at times been accepted as truth.

We need to know what God says in His Word about the issues that people are discussing these days – whether we have a carnal nature once we’re saved, whether we can do greater things than Jesus did, whether prophecy and the gifts are for today, homosexuality and the Christian faith, women in leadership, visitation of angels, and the list goes on.

Permit me to be bold here: Your opinion may be persuasive and politically non-offensive, but what does God clearly say in His Word?

Opinions are just that, opinions, but what God says is the truth, and His truth is infallible and timeless.

Today I want to encourage you – maybe even challenge you – to know why you believe what you believe. Stating your beliefs is not enough – we need to know why we believe it and be able to clearly show it from the Word of God.

1 Peter 3:15 (NIV) But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

It’s time for God’s Word to shape our beliefs, establish our convictions and determine our lives. It must not be the other way around.
