#2066 – Keep Praying

Good morning people who love enough to pray for relationships

(Today’s BIY written by Pastor Garry Leech)

Ephesians 6:18 (NIV) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Matthew 5:44-45a (AMP) But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, to show that you are the children of your Father Who is in heaven.

Luke 6:28 (NLT) Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.

In the fight for people, this has historically been my first response to difficulty in relationships. I want to talk to my heavenly Father about what is happening and get His perspective on it.

For me, I hit my knees and I stay there until I “feel” something shift in me. This is not predominantly about the other person, or what they have or have not done. This is about trying to make sure no bitterness, malice or offence has a chance to lodge itself in my heart and my spirit; I don’t want to give the devil a foothold in my life.

Ephesians 4:26-27 (MSG) Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry. Don’t give the devil that kind of foothold in your life.

It’s in these times of prayer I ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to flow in me and through me so I can move forward in life. I don’t want to get stuck in a moment of offence or hurt and it is prayer that helps me come to a healthy place.

“What part does prayer play in the health of your relationships? Are you actively praying for the relationships in your life?”
