#2022 – What Is Right

Good morning people who choose to think about the good things

Philippians 4:8 (NIV) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

It’s time to choose to think about whatever is right.

All of the words in this verse flow together, and at times, can be used interchangeably. But today I want to just think about the phrase whatever is right.

You and I both know that sometimes our thoughts are negative, fearful, anxious, troubled, jealous, angry, resentful…and the list goes on. Some of these thoughts (and subsequent feelings and actions) can be naturally justified; some bad stuff has happened to us and we may find ourselves in a very difficult situation.

But God’s Word tells us to think about whatever is right. None of the aforementioned things are right – they’re just not right.

The reason they are just not right is because God invites us into a much better place and promises to give us much better things! He promises to give us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and goodness! He promises to give us strength to say no and a contentment that is found in His unchanging nature and tireless commitment to us.

Therefore, it’s time to choose to think about whatever is right according to God’s Word and God’s wonderful invitation to us.

When fear knocks on the door of your mind, don’t open it – it’s just not right. When jealousy knocks on the door of your mind, don’t open it – it’s just not right. When lust knocks on the door of your mind, don’t open it – it’s just not right.

Today let’s ruthlessly refuse to open the door to thinking about anything that is just not right. It’s our choice.
