#2018 – Transforming Thoughts

Good morning people who see God more clearly through His Word

Romans 12:2 (NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Another thing God is highlighting to me when I consider friendship with God as our highest purpose and privilege in God is this:

Transformation of the mind is essential for all things including friendship with God.

God really does primarily speak through His Word. Most of the time when He speaks to us by the Holy Spirit it is from the Word also; this is His chosen vehicle. Therefore we are more likely to hear God if we know His Word.

There is a need to constantly interrupt our thoughts if they are off track from what God says in His Word. Too often we allow our biblically dysfunctional thinking to continue – this my friend is our choice. Sure we don’t always believe that, but it is nonetheless the truth.

I believe that when we have negative feelings or thoughts, we should step back and ask Father what He would have us think about. Then we should meditate on what He says.

Sometimes this will mean simply thinking about what He says – sometimes it will mean studying what God tells us from His Word – sometimes it will mean declaring it out loud until we are transformed and redirected – the action may be varied but it will require action; transformation is never passive.

The more we are transformed by the renewing of our mind, the more we will see God as He is. This, once again, is the fuel, not the reason, for knowing and loving God better.

“What change are you making this year in your approach and commitment to God’s Word and your choice to meditate on it?”
