#5027 – Who Told You?

Good morning people who commit to being led by the voice of God.

God spoke, mankind obeyed, freedom reigned.

The devil questioned, mankind disobeyed, freedom was lost.

Eating the fruit wasn’t the greatest problem. Listening to the wrong voice was.

Genesis 3:11 NIV And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

This verse really makes it clear.

When someone does the wrong thing, we normally ask why they did it. We focus on the sin committed. This is all about the law that was broken.

This is not what God said to Adam and Eve, because it was not the biggest issue!

God’s first question was, Who told you that you were naked?”

God went straight to the heart of the issue – listening to the wrong voice.

Every time you and I sin, we can trace the decision back to listening to a different voice than God’s voice. Every time, with no exceptions.

Every time you and I beat up on ourselves, don’t like ourselves, don’t believe we can do what God has said – and the list is endless – we can trace it back to listening to the wrong voice. It’s always an origin of voice issue!

So, what’s the solution?

Come back to listening to and obeying the voice of your intimate God who you are privileged to walk with.

When you are struggling, stop and ask yourself this question, “Who told me this?”

If it is different to what God says in His Word and what He is whispering by His Spirit, reject it as the lie that it is! Be ruthless with this dear friends!

This is the solution.
