Good morning people who know what God says and listen to what God says
Prophetic people know that listening is the priority over talking.
James 1:19-20 (NIV) 19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
When I have sinned in my anger, it’s because I have focused more on what I want than on what God wants.
Time for honesty here: There have been plenty of times when I have spoken or acted in a way that dishonours God and people, not because I didn’t know what the Bible says, but because I didn’t want to listen to the Holy Spirit Who was prompting me in the moment.
In these times, I realize there is a difference between knowing what God says and listening to Him. This means that it is also true that there is a difference between hearing God speak and listening to what He says.
As a prophet, I want to keep listening to God as my priority. I not only want to know what His Word says, but I want to know what the Holy Spirit is saying moment by moment. I also want to listen to what He says – I really want to listen – and I want my listening to be evidenced by my obedience.
“Will you join me?”
Let’s be people who truly listen to God.
