#2107 – Top Priority

Good morning people who love to spend time with Father God

Luke 5:15-16 (NIV) Yet the news about Him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Jesus regularly had ‘quiet times’. But what I see from Jesus’ example was that His focus was to meet with His Father.

And that got me thinking: “Why do we have quiet times?”

It is all too easy for our focus of a quiet time to be reading the Bible or praying through a prayer list. Both of these are wonderful, but neither of them are the destination.

The destination, the reason, the invitation of a ‘quiet time’ is to spend time with Father. What an amazing privilege! What an incredible honour!

Jesus made a custom of withdrawing from the busyness of life to spend time with His Father. It was not a custom as in a ‘religious duty’, but rather as in a ‘priority’. Jesus knew that alone time with His Father was the greatest priority of His day.

Maybe I can word it like this: The greatest purpose of a quiet time is not to do some spiritual disciplines but to meet with God.

Today Father would love to have some time with you. He would love to chat. He would love to share His heart with you and to hear what’s on your heart. He would like to love on you and be the strength that you need. You are His child and He loves you.

“Will you spend some time with God today?”
