Good morning people who rest as Jesus did
Mark 4:35-41 That day when evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us go to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took Him along, just as He was, in the boat. There were also other boats with Him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t You care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!”
Jesus is not bothered by storms and He does not worry during them.
How can someone rest, even sleep, during a furious squall? I mean, it’s not human! And that’s exactly the point.
There is a supernatural rest to enter into…even in the storm. Jesus entered it and He invites us to enter into the same rest He had in the storm. We must remember that Jesus is our example in all things.
Again I run the risk of appearing too simple in my statements but that is not my intention. My intention is to be Biblical and point us all to where we need to be heading towards. I do not have this perfectly sorted out. In fact, I often get this wrong. But this teaching from God’s precious Word is speaking life into me as I am gaining revelation on it. And that’s the power of God’s Word!
Jesus lived by the Word of God; by the instruction and direction of His Father. This is what gave Him His confidence. It is exactly the same for us. We can rest during the storm when we have confidence in what God has told us to do. Never forget, He is directing our steps, not man or circumstances.
