#927 – God’s Grace

Good morning people who give and receive

Luke 6:27- 31 But I tell you who hear Me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

We have meditated on many good things that we can do to keep us free from offence when we have been hurt.

The last line in this passage pulls it all together: Do to others as you would have them do to you.

The reality is we will all hurt someone at sometime. At that time, would you like to receive forgiveness? Would you like to be able to move forward? Would you like to receive grace and a second chance? I know I would. Well this passage is telling us to take the initiative and extend to others what we want to receive when we are in that position.

Also when we do wrong, God extends grace and forgiveness to us without reservation. We love receiving it and I know that I am so thankful for it. My life would not be worth living if it was not for the unmerited grace of God. I don’t deserve it but He gives it freely.

Because I have received so much grace and forgiveness from God, the only reasonable response is to extend grace and forgiveness to others. To do anything less is not God-honouring. In fact, I would say that I truly honour God when I freely pass on to others what I have received from Him.

Let’s love our enemies as Christ loved us.
