Good morning people with a desire to return home
When the lost son came to his senses and realised that he was in desperate need while those in his father’s house were prospering, he decided to return home.
Luke 15:18-20a I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men. So he got up and went to his father.
The first thing I see is a decision to go back home.
Some people have walked away from fellowship with the Father. Some have lived wild lives; self-seeking lives. Some have come to a place where they realise that what they have was not what was ‘promised’.
Yet sadly, many of these same people honestly believe that they can’t go home because they have let God down so much.
I could never stress enough just how much God loves you and desires you to make the decision to come home. This is the first step of reconciliation and it is the right step. It is also a step that your heavenly Father greatly rejoices over. Hearing a lost son or a lost daughter make a decision to ‘come home’ would be sweet music in the ears of God. When hearing these words from one who has lost their way, God does not focus on that which has separated them, but on the hope of a restored relationship.
I pray that if you are far off, that today you will make a decision to come home to your loving heavenly Father. He is waiting with open arms.
