#5809 – Pure Preaching

Good morning people who do not amend or water down the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mark 1:4-5 NIV And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

There was nothing flashy about the pulpit or building in which John preached. In fact, it was a dusty dirty wilderness. For the preachers out there, let’s never become precious about where we speak and how grand it is. We are called to love God and love people. We are called to go wherever Father tells us to go. We are called to fulfil God’s commission for our lives.

There is a need to return to preaching a baptism for repentance for the forgiveness of sins. This necessitates sin being called sin. Neither John the Baptist nor Jesus would have been voted ‘most politically correct’. This was true of them back then, and it should be true of every believer today.

If people who hear our message don’t need to change, then we are not preaching the gospel of the Bible. The goal never was to make people feel comfortable or even accepted. The goal always has been for people to come to the Father through Jesus Christ via the doorway of confessing sins and dying to self.

And look at the results of this undiluted pure gospel: Multitudes came and responded to the message of truth!

Please, please, please don’t believe the lie that says we have to somehow change the gospel to make it more relevant or more palatable! It is this very deception that many in the church need to be delivered from!

It’s time to preach repentance for the forgiveness of sins. Without it no one can see the Lord.
