#5800 – Representing God

Good morning people who glorify God by living a life that represents Him well.

There is a holy call for the people of God to represent God.

I am sure that we all know this conceptually, but what does it mean and what does it look like?

Let’s start by looking at the word represent. It means: ‘to be entitled or appointed to act or speak for (someone), especially in an official capacity’.

This sounds a lot like what prophecy is meant to be! The word prophecy in the bible means, ‘to speak by divine inspiration, especially to foretell’.

Combine the words represent and prophecy, and we see that we are called (entitled and appointed by God) to act and to speak for God, by speaking what we have received by divine inspiration from God. This is no trivial matter!

As people whose lives are not our own, we are now royal ambassadors. Literally speaking, this means that God is speaking through us, or put another way, we are speaking on behalf of God.

2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

To be an ambassador who represents God means that we speak and act on behalf of God. This is important, because there must be a congruency in our lives between what we say and how we live. God is dishonoured when there is a disconnect and hypocrisy between the two. Our lips and our lives matter dear friends.

Have you intentionally answered the holy call to represent God with your life and your lips?
