Good morning people who go back in order to move forward.
God doesn’t want us stuck in the past. He has new mercies today, and today is the day of salvation. Father has purposes and plans with your name on them.
But sometimes, moving forward requires us to go back to some foundations that we have moved on from.
Are there things that Father is calling you back to today?
Here’s just a few foundations that Father might want to speak to you about:
Prayer. Prayer is not a substitute for action – prayer is an action. Prayer is the fuel of our relationship with God. Prayer is a privilege, and prayer is our holy calling.
Bible meditation. Saturation in God’s Word has no equal. Our prayers flow from this, and our lives follow what we choose to mediate on. Hiding God’s Word in our heart is a key to walking in God’s ways and to fulfilling His plans for our lives.
Perseverance. Jesus declared “It is finished” on the other side of perseverance in the Garden of Gethsemane. Fruit is found on the other side of not growing weary in doing good. Character is formed on the other side of continually turning towards God in the face of temptation.
Hebrews 10:32 NIV Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering.
Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Grace. We were saved by God’s grace, and we are sustained by God’s grace. Many of us need to return to living by grace. Remember, it is God’s grace that is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Maybe what you need right now is found again in the foundations of your faith.
