#5711 – Loving Correction

Good morning people who are loved enough by God to be redirected by Him.

Proverbs 3:11-12 MEV My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be weary of His correction; for whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father the son in whom he delights.

We are so blessed that God the Father loves us so deeply as His beloved children that He corrects us when we get off track. This is unbelievably kind!

I believe that the correction of God is one of His greatest gifts to us. I know that it doesn’t always feel this way, but we need to understand it from the right perspective.

God is love, and therefore, He loves deeply. His motivation is always love. He is for us more than we are for ourselves, and it is this truth that compels Him to intervene in the lives of His children.

A loving parent does not stand by silently when a child starts to wander towards danger. If a toddler is heading towards a fire or a busy road, a responsible parents will step in and redirect. The toddler is probably completely unaware of potential consequences, but not so the parent. The toddler might even kick against the parent and think that the parent is just trying to ruin his fun, but oh, how wrong the child is.

Here’s how to put it simply: Children do not know better than parents. Therefore, a loving parent will love enough to correct and to redirect a child whom they love in order to protect a child from harm. Freedom from pain-filled consequences is a loving parent’s goal in these situations.

How much more our heavenly Father.

Is it time to embrace the loving correction of your heavenly Father?
