#5636 – God is Peace

Good morning people who enter fully into the God of peace.

Ephesians 2:14-18 NIV For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

The opening line of this passage is life-changing: ‘For He Himself is our peace.’

God is peace. The fruit of His Spirit – who He is – is ‘love, joy, peace…’

Transparency time from me. I want peace to come from my understanding. In other words, I want to understand what is happening, what is not happening, and why it is or isn’t happening. Too often I wrongly believe, that if I can understand, then it will be ok; then I will be ok. I translate this to me having peace.

But the Bible is very clear that this is not the way of the kingdom. In addition to meditating on the scripture above, the following well-known scripture states it perfectly:

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Either I know best, or God knows best. I think it just might be God who knows best.

The peace of God that guards our hearts and our minds is found in Christ Jesus. Don’t miss this. The peace of God is in the person of Jesus Christ. It’s in Him, not from Him! He is our Prince of Peace!

And this peace who is Christ Jesus, gives us Himself, and in Him and from Him, all that we need when it comes to peace is truly beyond our understanding. Human logic and reasoning are not the solutions. A confident trust in who God is and all that He has provided in Himself is the answer that releases peace into our souls.

May the Prince of Peace rule in our hearts and minds.
