#5431 – Stay Awhile

Good morning people who are friends of God who love to linger in His presence.

Exodus 33:11 NIV The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.

This is a beautiful and powerful scripture, both what it says about Moses and about Joshua.

God is calling us to be His friends. This truth is so absolutely wonderful and life-giving.

The following well-known verse contains so much truth in it:

John 15:15 NIV I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

God is also looking for some friends who do not leave the tent of meeting.

I am not talking about becoming a hermit or resigning from your job and sitting contemplatively with the Lord 24/7. This is not helpful to a world who needs to encounter Jesus through you.

What I am saying is this: Learn to linger in God’s presence, and learn to take Him with you as you go.

Encountering God is not reserved to Sundays or quiet times. Encountering God and entering deep into Him is a way of living.

May we all know God in the deeper ways that He desires for us.
