Good morning people who present your requests to God the Father.
John 16:23-24 NIV “In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
I think this scripture is saying a lot, and to be honest, some of it is a mystery to me (and I’m ok with that). But let me unpack what I do see.
Jesus was telling His disciples that there was coming a day when they will no longer ask Him directly for things. I believe this is, in part, because He was going back to heaven and they would see Him no more.
But He doesn’t leave them as ‘orphans’.
Rather, Jesus points His disciples (once again) to His Father. He reminds them to talk to Him; to pray to Him.
And I once again point you to the same place. When you pray, pray to your Father in heaven. This is what Jesus said to do.
But Jesus goes further than reaffirming who to pray to. He also told us, that when we pray to the Father in Jesus’ name – in accordance with the will of God – that the Father will answer us and we will receive from Him.
And it is this answer to prayers that are in alignment to God’s will that cause our joy to be complete. Oh, what a delight to see Father move through the Holy Spirit when we pray in Jesus’ name!
So, let’s continue to be a praying people, and may our joy be complete as the Spirit moves.
