Good morning people who have the Holy Spirit to help you and to live in you.
John 14:16-17 NIV “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
Jesus asked the Father to send us the Holy Spirit. What a wonderful reality!
Jesus called the Holy Spirit the ‘advocate’, or as the King James Version says, the ‘comforter’.
So, what does this mean? Who is the Holy Spirit?
Firstly, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He is not a mist, a vapour, or just a presence from God. He is God; He is fully God.
And He is our counsellor, our intercessor, our advocate, and our comforter. Simply put, the Holy Spirit is everything that we need from God the Father while we are walking this earth.
One of the realities of the Holy Spirit in our lives is that of a defence lawyer. He fights on our behalf. He prays earnestly for us with groans that cannot be uttered. He declares us righteous before the Father because of the sacrifice of Jesus.
The following verses bring such clarity to the truth of the Holy Spirit in our lives:
Romans 8:26-27 NIV In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
You can’t get better than the Holy Spirit in you!
