#4895 – Overflowing Thankfulness

Good morning people whose lives testify of the goodness of God.

Colossians 2:6-7 NIV So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

One of the areas we should never outgrow is overflowing with thankfulness.

When we first accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, gratitude overflowed. We were thankful for receiving revelation of the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord. We were thankful that we were transplanted from death to life, from slavery to freedom, from hopelessness into the promise and assurance of eternal life.

But then life went on, and over time, our thankfulness started to wain and our vision started to shift as we increasingly saw the glass half empty. The spirit of this age subtly eroded our sense of awe and wonder, as we started to focus on what we did not have and what we still wanted to receive.

Now this might not be everybody’s story, but it might be yours today.

And so I encourage you to realign to living with overflowing thankfulness for who God is, what He has done and His ongoing faithfulness to you. I encourage you to daily count your blessings and to verbalise what you are thankful for. I encourage you to use your words as weapons of warfare as you praise God even while you are still in the prison.

May this following verse be the testimony of our lives for the glory of God the Father:

1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
