#3807 – Our Father

Good morning people who love to talk to your heavenly Father

Matthew 6:9 NIV This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.”

Without narrowing prayer down to a formula or ritualistic rote, prayer is something we should do, and there is a way that we should pray.

The first thing Jesus makes very clear is that we should pray to our Father.

I know we talked about this recently, but it bears repeating as it was so important to Jesus that we understand this.

Jesus Himself prayed often, not to Himself, but to His Father.

Jesus was in constant dialogue with His Father; talking and listening to Him, leaning in and receiving instructions from Him, petitioning Him on our behalf and fulfilling His plans for His life.

Like I said a week ago, Father has been highlighting to me that Jesus continually pointed us to ‘Destination Father’. This includes Who we pray to.

We are honoured, privileged and blessed beyond measure to pray to the same Father that Jesus prays to!

This is why Jesus said, “Our Father”: Jesus’ Father and our Father is the same Father, and He loves to hear from us!

Pray to your Father – that’s what Jesus said we should do.
