#3767 – Being Afraid

Good morning people who have a revelation of the power of God

Psalm 25:12 NIV Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.

The word ‘fear’ here means: ‘fearing; morally, reverent: – afraid, fear (-full)’

Yes, I see the often-stated focus of ‘reverent, but I also see clearly that it means ‘afraid’.

Yet I also know the Word of God says the following:

1 John 4:18 NIV There is no fear in love (in God – verses 8 and 16). But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

So, I looked at the meaning of the word ‘fear’ here in the Greek, and I saw one distinctive difference between the word used in Psalm 25:12 and the word used in 1 John 4:18.

In 1 John 4:18, the word ‘fear’ includes: ‘to be put in fear, dread, terror’.

“Father, help us to see what You want to show us.”

The wrong type of fear (from the enemy), shifts our identity to fear (being in fear), and due to the dread and terror, results in us making decisions to step back from God and steps of faith that please Him.

The right type of fear (from God), shifts our identity to being in God, and due to our revelation of His power and might, results in us making decisions to step towards God and take steps of faith that please Him.

While there may be some confusion here today, stay with me and let’s lean in further tomorrow.
