#3572 – Habakkuk’s Response

Good morning people who look to see what God is saying to you

As a leader, I have often preached and heard others preach about ‘writing down the revelation and making it plain’ from Habakkuk 2:2. Again, the focus has been on hearing what God is saying to us, capturing it and writing it down, so that we can run with it.

But let’s have a look at what it actually says and the context. Coming into chapter two, Habakkuk is pouring out his complaint to God and telling Him everything that He naturally sees (chapter one). Then Habakkuk shifts and moves into something prophetically powerful for us all today. Have a look:

Habakkuk 2:1-3 NIV I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will LOOK TO SEE what He will SAY to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint. Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

POWERFUL!

Naturally speaking, you don’t LOOK TO SEE what someone will say – you LISTEN TO HEAR what someone will say.

But not with us towards God!

Habakkuk effectively said, “I’ve heard what You’ve said God, now I need to LOOK TO SEE what You are saying. I can’t afford to self-interpret what You’ve said.”

Then God started to show Him things and told Habakkuk to write down what He SAW (revelation; disclosure), not just what he heard.

Oh, for this to be true of every Believer – that we would LOOK TO SEE what God will say to us!
