#2605 – Don’t Debate Truth

Good morning people who believe and live by what God has said

Matthew 15:3-6 (NIV) 3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘Honour your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ 5 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ 6 they are not to ‘honour their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

We are living in a time when some people are ‘doing things for God’ that are different to what God says in His Word. If God says, “Don’t do this”, and we do it ‘for the glory of God’, we are fooling ourselves. If God says, “This is a sin”, but we say it is not ‘for the sake of loving and accepting people’, we are in error and heresy.

One of the great challenges today is people’s compelling stories. Our heart should break for people when they are doing life tougher than we could imagine – Jesus Himself was often moved with compassion. But people’s stories must not change truth. I have said it before, but I must say it again: don’t debate what God has decreed!

“Are you obeying what God has said or are you debating it or trying to change it?”
