#2301 – Fear The Lord

Good morning people who live a life worthy of our Holy God

Psalm 112:1 (NIV) Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in His commands.

I believe in a God of love. I believe in a God Whose kindness is beyond what we can ever imagine. I believe in a God Who is so patient because He doesn’t want anyone to perish. I believe in a God Who does not punish us as our sins deserve…

…but I also believe in a God Who is holy. The word ‘holy’ means ‘morally blameless’ and this is exactly what our God is (I am sure we can all accept this truth about God).  But here’s a scripture for us to consider today:

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NIV) But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

God is holy and we are called to be holy.

“So how do we live holy lives.”

Part of the answer is found in our opening scripture. When we have ‘great delight in God’s commands’ (this happens as we see the loving invitation from God behind every instruction), then we will ‘fear the Lord’ (have a healthy respect for Him and what He says).

The result of living life this way will be a blessed and holy life; a life that pleases God.

It’s time for us as Christians to be different from the world. It’s time for us to do things God’s way. It’s time for us to fear the Lord and live holy lives.
