#2265 –God’s Security

Good morning people who live by the example of God Himself

God dropped this phrase into my heart: “Insecure people care about their reputation.”

Over the next couple of days, let me try to unpack what I feel God is saying to us.

Firstly, I want to clarify something. I am talking to people who desire to do the will of God. I am not talking about people who don’t care what people think, but equally don’t care what God thinks.

Secondly, we care about people and what they think from a place of respect for people. But not to the point of not doing God’s will because of the possible damage to our reputation.

On that foundation, let’s continue with some thoughts about God Himself.

In the Old Testament, God had every reason to care about His reputation because His children made some really bad decisions. Here’s just a few to consider:

  • His first children (Adam & Eve)disobeyed Him and did what the devil said.
  • His first children’s son (Cain) killed his brother (Abel).
  • He had to destroy all the people He had created (except for Noah and his family) because of their wickedness.
  • His appointed deliverer of the children of Israel (Moses) reacted impulsively and killed an Egyptian.
  • His chosen king (David) committed adultery and murder and tried to cover it up.

…and the list goes on and on

If you are walking close to God, what others do is not the basis for your reputation.

Let’s look at this some more tomorrow.
