#2264 – Not Disgraced

Good morning people who can still receive God’s grace

Here’s the dictionary definition of ‘disgrace’: ‘loss of reputation or respect as the result of a dishonourable action, a person or thing regarded as shameful and unacceptable’.

Some people go as far as telling others that they are a disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves. Some of you feel disgraced because of some terrible decisions you have made, even though you have repented and asked God to forgive you.

The reality today is we have all made decisions that are wrong. Sure, in human terms, some people have made worse decisions than others, but sin is simply ‘missing the mark’, and that mark is God’s 100% perfect standard. So, in God’s eyes, we are all on the same page.

Now I want to speak some empowering truth over you today.

Whenever the prefix ‘dis’ is put before a word it means ‘the removal of’. Therefore, the word ‘disgrace’ means ‘the removal of grace’.

But I have some good news!!! God is the God of grace, He sits on a throne of grace and He loves to give grace to anyone who is willing to ask for it and receive it!

Hebrews 4:16 (NIV) Let us then approach Gods throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

‘Disgrace’ is the ‘removal of grace’. Therefore, making a wrong decision does not mean we are ‘disgraced’ – grace is still available to us!!! However, not receiving and living in the grace of God after a sinful decision is by its very definition ‘disgrace’ – not because of the sinful action but because of the refusal to accept God’s gift of grace.

“Will you receive the grace of God today? He wants to give it to you. He wants you to be grace-filled, not dis-graced.”
