#2212 – A Paid Debt

Good morning people who are completely forgiven and clean

Colossians 2:13-15 (NIV) When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; He has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

I read this and I am speechless as I think about our incredible God.

“Thank You Lord for Your goodness!”

When we were dead…God made us alive! That right there is enough to make us stop and give thanks. But there’s more.

Before we asked Him, He forgave us. We were indebted with a debt that could not be paid. So He initiated the most radical, the most selfless and the most powerful act in all of History: He nailed all of mankind’s sin to Jesus on the cross.

As a result, He disarmed the power and authority of the enemy. He not only disarmed him, He made a public spectacle of him. Jesus took back what the enemy stole. Jesus silenced his ability to condemn and hurl accusations. Jesus won.

Your debt – however large or small you perceive it to be – has been cancelled. God the Father looks at us all and declares, “INNOCENT!” because of the sacrifice of His Son.

Here’s the truth for everyone who has accepted Christ’s free gift of salvation:

John 8:36 (NIV) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
