#2203 – Always Good

Good morning people who serve a good and loving Father

With God’s permission, Satan caused a lot of heartache in Job’s life. Just think about that – ‘with God’s permission’. Yes, Satan was behind the attacks, but God gave him the permission to attack. This might challenge your theology, but it is what happened.

Here’s some of the disaster that Job went through: his oxen and donkeys were stolen and some of his servants were killed, his sheep and more servants were killed by fire, his camels were stolen and still more of his servants were killed, and finally his sons and daughters were killed when their house collapsed due to a hurricane.

“What would Job’s response be to God?”

Job 1:20-22 (NIV) At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

I think this is one of the greatest examples to us in the Bible.

Bad stuff happens to good people…but good people can respond in a God-honouring manner.

God is always just and right and good…even when we don’t understand.

The question is, “How will we respond to God when bad things are God-allowed?”

God is never unjust, even when unjust things happen to us.
